Paisano & Daughters' Australia Street precinct in Newtown brings a group of hospitality venues and short-stay suites together across a row of heritage terraces. Killing Matt Woods designed Osteria Mucca at 212 Australia Street, a former butcher shop that keeps its original green-and-white tiles, and Mister Grotto at 208, with deep maritime blues and a ship-hull ceiling. Joe's Tavern at 206 occupies a restored Federation terrace reworked as a neighbourhood dining room. Continental Deli, which has anchored the street since 2015, stayed largely unchanged, with a new cool room and extra storage added behind the scenes, and suites above the restaurants reflect the identity of each venue below.
Goldfish & Bay delivered the hydraulic design across the precinct, covering water, gas, plumbing and drainage for the kitchens, bars and accommodation. Working inside century-old terraces meant integrating modern services discreetly, so each venue meets current codes while the heritage fabric of the buildings stays intact.
