MEET ILIAS & BEN | Work Experience Week
This week, we welcomed Ben Redden and Ilias Patrikios, students from SYDNEY SECONDARY COLLEGE LEICHHARDT into the Goldfish & Bay office for their work experience placement. They arrived on the same morning, sat at nearby desks, and were given the same small set of tasks across marketing and administration. On paper, it was simple. In practice, it quickly became clear that we were watching two completely different ways of thinking unfold in real time. Ben approached the week w

LUNCH & LEARN with Fantech | Understanding Performance in Ventilation Design
At Goldfish & Bay, our Lunch & Learn sessions play a practical role in strengthening how our engineers approach complex building systems. Our recent session with Fantech focused on the fundamentals of fan performance and the real conditions that influence system behaviour once designs move from drawings to site. Led by Nyasha Chiraga and Avinash ED, the session moved well beyond catalogue data. Their experience in system analysis and fan behaviour helped our team understand h

ON SITE | Last week, our team had the opportunity to visit TRILOGY in Macquarie Park with Plumb Group, walking the project from the basement through to the highest accessible levels of the tower.
At this scale, TRILOGY comprises three residential towers, with the tallest rising to approximately 59 storeys, making it one of the most significant high-rise developments in the Macquarie Park precinct. Hydraulic engineering therefore goes well beyond drawings and models, demanding careful planning around pressure zoning, vertical distribution, system coordination, and long term operational performance. This visit focused on learning and technical understanding rather than

This stage forms part of a broader development that will introduce 873 new apartments to Castle Hill across a coordinated group of towers. The Lot 4 appointment builds on our earlier work within the precinct and extends the continuity of our engineering involvement as the project unfolds. Our work i

THIS MONTH IN ENGINEERING | Why Healthcare Buildings Are a Different World
Hospitals carry an appearance of calm, but anyone who has worked in them knows the truth. Behind the walls is a constant effort to keep air clean, pressure steady, power uninterrupted and water controlled. None of these systems can slip, even briefly. In healthcare, building services sit close to the clinical frontline. If a system falters, the impact is immediate and it is felt in patient care. That reality shapes the way hospitals are designed, upgraded and maintained. A ty

CBANSW Gala | Celebrating Leadership and Collaboration
The Chinese Building Association of NSW held its 6th anniversary gala at the beginning of this month, bringing together professionals who contribute to the strength and direction of the construction sector. One of the evening’s acknowledgements was the CEO Award for Young Leader for 2025, presented to the CBANSW Young Leader Committee. For us, the moment carried real significance. Joanna Sheng stepped onto the stage with her committee, reflecting the leadership role she has b
