INSIGHTS, UPDATES & PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

ONE TEAM. THREE CAUSES.
Last year, we took part in City2Surf as part of a broader industry effort. This year, we’re doing it differently. For City2Surf 2026, the Goldfish & Bay team is running to support three causes that impact people across Australia in very different ways. Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) Beyond Blue RSPCA NSW Most campaigns ask you to get behind one cause. The reality is, people connect to different things. So instead of choosing, we’ve backed all three. On 9 August

Hot water systems don’t usually drive early design decisions, but they probably should.
We had the STIEBEL ELTRON Australia team in with our electrical and hydraulic teams to run through electric hot water systems and how they’re being applied across current projects. The discussion focused on the shift away from centralised plant and how this carries through into design and coordination. Removing central plant and ring mains simplifies the building. Less plant space, shorter pipe runs and fewer coordination constraints across disciplines. It changes how service

LUNCH & LEARN | Lighting Systems with Zumtobel Group
Our electrical team recently joined a technical Lunch & Learn session hosted by Zumtobel Group , led by Dylan Pillay , exploring high bay lighting systems and the TECTON II product range. A key discussion focused on the selection of high bay luminaires for different applications. Dylan explained that Zumtobel provides a design guide that allows consultants to quickly select suitable fittings based on mounting height and lumen requirements, without needing to run detailed

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY | The women behind our projects
International Women’s Day is a moment to recognise the women shaping our industry and the built environment around us. Across engineering, construction, and design, women play an important role in delivering projects, solving complex challenges, and strengthening the teams behind them. Their expertise, perspective, and collaboration make our industry stronger. This year’s International Women’s Day theme, "Give To Gain", highlights the value of creating opportunities, sharing

THE HIDDEN LAYER OF EVERY BUILDING | WORLD ENGINEERING DAY
Most people experience engineering without ever noticing it. Clean water flows when a tap is opened. Buildings stay comfortable through carefully designed mechanical systems. Electrical networks power entire cities. Fire protection systems stand ready in the background, rarely seen but always critical. None of this happens by chance. It is the result of engineers solving complex technical problems long before construction begins. At Goldfish & Bay, our engineers work across h

Pagewood Centro | MIRO
On 16.5 hectares of former industrial land along Bunnerong Road, the Pagewood Green masterplan is transforming a significant employment site into one of Sydney’s largest residential redevelopments. The precinct, delivered by Meriton Group, will ultimately provide thousands of apartments, retail space and extensive public open areas as part of a staged urban renewal program. Pagewood Centro MIRO formed one of the key completed stages within that masterplan. The project compris

LUNCH & LEARN | Actwell Lighting
Today our electrical engineering team took part in a LUNCH & LEARN session with Actwell Lighting, focused on contemporary lighting design and project delivery across live developments. Presented by Manoj Muthuvel and Hugh Rabone, the session worked through real project examples, exploring how luminaire selection, layout planning, lux compliance, and custom solutions are coordinated from early design through to construction. The discussion centred on performance, buildability,
