KEN BIRDSEY PARK
Ken Birdsey Park Sports Pavilion is part of the Reserve 882 redevelopment for Blacktown City Council, designed to deliver high-quality community and sporting facilities. The long, linear pavilion includes change rooms, umpire and first aid areas, a community clubroom, kiosk, public amenities, and shaded outdoor gathering spaces.
The design takes inspiration from the Coolgardie Safe, using a rubble wall and rainwater harvesting to support passive cooling and integrate natural systems. Surrounding works extend the project into the broader precinct, with new playing fields, wetlands, car parking, and bioretention basins contributing to a sustainable and resilient landscape.
