Joe’s Tavern now anchors 206 Australia Street, occupying a restored Federation terrace that has been reshaped into an inviting neighbourhood dining room. The interior carries a relaxed, lived-in character, with warm tones, considered detailing and a layout that opens the narrow terrace to light and movement. The result is a venue that feels established from day one and sits comfortably within Australia Street’s hospitality rhythm.
Goldfish & Bay delivered the hydraulic design that underpins the kitchen and bar operations. Working within a century-old terrace required a careful approach. Contemporary services were integrated discreetly to ensure the building’s heritage structure and materiality remained undisturbed. The aim was simple: support a fully functioning venue without compromising the architectural qualities that define the site.
Joe’s Tavern has quickly become part of the street’s identity. We valued the opportunity to support Paisano & Daughters and are proud to have contributed to a project that strengthens the character and hospitality offering of Newtown.
