Building Our Civil Team | MEET SINA ARBABZADEH

Most people look at a site and see land.
Sina Arbabzadeh sees how the entire site needs to work.
He reads the high and low points, where water naturally wants to travel, how the site connects to the road and what is happening beyond the property boundary.
He notices retaining walls, kerbs, pits, changes in vegetation and signs of previous ponding. Before design begins, he is already building a three dimensional picture of the site.
That perspective comes from more than 20 years in civil engineering.
Sina joins Goldfish & Bay as Principal Civil Engineer and Civil Team Lead, bringing extensive experience across land development, roads, residential subdivisions, education, industrial facilities, mining and airport infrastructure.
One project that particularly shaped him was Oran Park Town, where he worked on Tranche 41 of the Pondicherry Precinct and Town Development.
At that scale, no part of civil engineering works in isolation. Earthworks influence roads. Roads influence levels. Levels influence drainage, flooding, accessibility, retaining walls and building interfaces.
Decisions made early affect everything that follows.
That is why Sina believes Civil should be involved before a development layout becomes fixed.
"Too often, a layout is developed around planning and architectural objectives first, and the civil engineer is then asked to make the engineering fit." Early Civil input allows stormwater, flooding, levels, access, earthworks and servicing to inform the design while there is still flexibility to make better decisions.
Sina is now bringing that approach to Goldfish & Bay as he leads the continued development of our Civil team.
For engineers considering joining him, Sina values curiosity, ownership and communication. He wants people who understand why they are making a decision, question established approaches and feel confident contributing their own ideas.
We are currently growing our Civil team and would like to hear from civil engineers who want to help shape the discipline, work across varied projects and develop alongside an experienced technical leader.
If that sounds like the right next step for you, contact Goldfish & Bay to start a conversation.
