From fabrication apprentice to Associate at Goldfish & Bay, Paul Debattista’s journey is one of determination, calculated risks, and relentless growth. His path wasn’t always easy, but his drive to push boundaries and refine his craft has set him apart.

Paul comes from a Maltese and Filipino background, raised with the belief that success isn’t just about working harder, but working smarter. His father and brother’s hands-on approach to problem-solving—building, fixing, and creating—instilled a natural love for engineering. But rather than staying in the trades, he took it a step further, moving beyond the tools into design, leadership, and innovation.

Leaving a stable trade career at 21 to study engineering was a bold move. Watching his friends build financial security while he took on debt wasn’t easy, but he saw it as an investment in something bigger. That risk paid off, leading him to a role where he could help build a company, shape a team, and redefine industry standards.

Since joining Goldfish & Bay, Paul has become a driving force in our fire services team, mentoring others while continuously refining engineering processes and industry standards. His focus is always on progress—both in himself and in those around him. Whether it’s developing better systems, pushing the boundaries of fire engineering, or guiding his team, he’s always looking for what’s next.

And now, Paul has taken on his most rewarding role yet—fatherhood. In September, he and his partner welcomed their beautiful daughter, marking a new milestone in his journey. While work still fuels his passion, family time has become the ultimate way to unwind. Whether it’s hiking, gaming with friends, or simply enjoying time at home, he brings the same focus and dedication to this new chapter.
