INSIGHTS, UPDATES & PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

As projects begin to be recognised across the industry, it’s worth reflecting on what sits behind the finished outcome.
Across every project, engineering plays a central role in turning intent into something that can be built, coordinated, and delivered. It sits between design and construction, carrying decisions through to real conditions on site. You won’t see most of our work. But everything depends on it. Goldfish & Bay. THE BONOBO BY RAES | BYRON BAY forms part of a hotel-apartment development currently under construction at 116–118 Jonson Street, positioned within Byron Bay’s town centre.
Designed by Richards & Spence, the studio behind The Calile Hotel, one of Brisbane’s most recognised hospitality projects, the development brings together 41 hotel-apartments with a ground floor mix of hospitality, retail and wellness spaces. The building is organised around a landscaped central courtyard, with a low-rise brick form that responds to Byron’s coastal character while establishing a clear presence within the urban fabric. At ground level, the hospitality offering

Hot water systems don’t usually drive early design decisions, but they probably should.
We had the STIEBEL ELTRON Australia team in with our electrical and hydraulic teams to run through electric hot water systems and how they’re being applied across current projects. The discussion focused on the shift away from centralised plant and how this carries through into design and coordination. Removing central plant and ring mains simplifies the building. Less plant space, shorter pipe runs and fewer coordination constraints across disciplines. It changes how service

LUNCH & LEARN | Lighting Systems with Zumtobel Group
Our electrical team recently joined a technical Lunch & Learn session hosted by Zumtobel Group , led by Dylan Pillay , exploring high bay lighting systems and the TECTON II product range. A key discussion focused on the selection of high bay luminaires for different applications. Dylan explained that Zumtobel provides a design guide that allows consultants to quickly select suitable fittings based on mounting height and lumen requirements, without needing to run detailed

LUNCH & LEARN | Actwell Lighting
Today our electrical engineering team took part in a LUNCH & LEARN session with Actwell Lighting, focused on contemporary lighting design and project delivery across live developments. Presented by Manoj Muthuvel and Hugh Rabone, the session worked through real project examples, exploring how luminaire selection, layout planning, lux compliance, and custom solutions are coordinated from early design through to construction. The discussion centred on performance, buildability,

INSIDE THE LEADERSHIP TEAM | Goldfish & Bay
Getting this group in one frame required the same precision as fitting services into a basement ceiling with no millimetres to spare. So after a few “do we really need this?” conversations… here we are. The people in this image carry responsibility for how this business operates and delivers. They have built this company through discipline, technical depth and long-term trust with clients and collaborators. We are proud of the people in this frame. Just as importantly, we are
