As buildings become more energy efficient and sustainability expectations continue to grow, HVAC design is evolving well beyond simply heating and cooling a space. Today's systems must balance performance, energy use, compliance, occupant comfort and long term operational efficiency.
This week, our mechanical team welcomed Temperzone Australia for a Lunch & Learn exploring the latest developments in VRF and applied HVAC systems.
One of the key discussions centred on reducing refrigerant charge. While it's not something most people think about, refrigerant quantities can influence system design, compliance requirements and environmental impact. Designing more efficient systems with lower refrigerant volumes can help improve safety, support compliance with Australian Standards and contribute to better long term building performance.

The session also explored advances in energy efficiency, electrification, inverter technology and modular HVAC solutions that provide greater flexibility for installation, future expansion and ongoing maintenance. As building performance standards continue to evolve, these innovations are becoming increasingly important considerations for designers, developers and building owners.
Opportunities like these allow our engineers to stay informed about emerging technologies and industry changes, ensuring the advice we provide is based on current best practice.
This session also followed our visit to Temperzone's manufacturing facility last year, where our team gained firsthand insight into how their HVAC systems are designed and built.
