Reimagining Sydney's Historic West Olympia Theatre: 25hours Hotel

Sydney's skyline is on the brink of a remarkable transformation, with the iconic West Olympia Theatre in Paddington poised to evolve into the city's inaugural 25hours Hotel. Set to open its doors in December 2024, this groundbreaking project, led by Central Element in collaboration with Boston Global Group, promises not only to redefine luxury accommodation but also to pay homage to the site's rich history.

Originally known as the West Olympia Pictures, this heritage-listed gem has witnessed Sydney's cultural evolution, transitioning from an arthouse cinema to the bustling Grand Pacific Blue Room nightclub. Under the visionary guidance of architects Tonkin Zulaikha Greer (TZG), the theatre's historic façade will be carefully preserved and seamlessly integrated into the fabric of the boutique hotel.

TZG, renowned since 1987 for its innovative designs and unwavering attention to detail, brings a community-centric ethos to every project, effortlessly blending contemporary flair with traditional elements. This approach ensures each project, whether a public building or historic restoration, reflects a deep understanding of context and a commitment to excellence.

Goldfish & Bay has secured an exciting opportunity to be part of the 25hours Hotel development in Paddington, adding building services engineering expertise to this iconic project.

As construction progresses, a team of skilled craftsmen and engineers, led by Richard Crookes Constructions, infuse new life into the building, ensuring that its legacy endures for generations to come.

The 25hours Hotel, with 109 guest rooms and a chic rooftop bar offering panoramic views, embodies a blend of old-world charm and contemporary elegance, poised to become a beacon of sophistication in Paddington.

Furthermore, this project reflects Sydney's dedication to sustainable development and adaptive reuse, preserving architectural heritage while reducing its carbon footprint.

As anticipation builds for the grand unveiling, the 25hours Hotel stands as a testament to architecture's transformative power and Sydney's enduring allure. In December 2024, as its doors swing open, guests will be greeted not only by a sense of history and heritage but also by the promise of an unforgettable experience.
