West Village is a residential project in the Sydney CBD that takes an unusual position within its urban context. Instead of density driving the building, it is organised around a small number of large homes, each occupying an entire floor and, in many cases, extending across multiple levels within a 17-storey structure.
The architecture, led by Angelo Candalepas and delivered by Candalepas Associates, approaches apartment living as something closer to a private house, stacked vertically. The plans are shaped around separation, weight, and containment. Above the podium, there are no shared residential corridors, and movement from street to home is tightly controlled. The emphasis is on quiet, privacy, and a sense of arrival that feels removed from the city rather than exposed to it.
Goldfish & Bay delivered the hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and fire services design through design development and construction documentation. The scope included detailed services coordination and CFD modelling to test and confirm ventilation performance, supporting the building’s spatial and environmental intent.
