On Gadigal land of the Eora Nation, the Pemulwuy redevelopment has given new life to a place long connected to resilience, identity and community. For generations, "the Block" in Redfern has held deep significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the Pemulwuy Project represents a new chapter in its ongoing story.
Led by the Aboriginal Housing Company Ltd and delivered by Deicorp, this State Significant Development has transformed the former Eveleigh Street precinct into a vibrant mixed-use environment. According to the AHC, the project is part of a long-term effort to revitalise "the Block", guided by a master plan first approved in 2009. As Australia’s first Aboriginal community housing provider, the AHC continues its decades-long commitment to self-determined, community-led outcomes.
As part of this major urban renewal project, Goldfish & Bay delivered the hydraulic design and construction documentation for the Pemulwuy Business Hub (Precinct 2), which incorporates childcare, commercial and retail facilities alongside the Elouera Tony Mundine Gym. Designed by Nordon Jago Architects, the Business Hub activates the precinct at street level and supports long-term community use. The broader Pemulwuy Project has since received multiple industry awards, including honours from the UDIA and the Sydney Design Awards.
Our team is proud to have contributed to a precinct that delivers lasting public, cultural and social outcomes. We remain committed to supporting community-focused and government-aligned developments that strengthen places and enrich future generations.
